have you tried using Turbo Tax premier? I used it last year for my 1099's. It answered the questions i had.

Matt-

You can call Chris Sly over at Associated Tax. He is an old neighbor of mine. I use him personally and we recommend him to our clients as well. His number is 344-4901.

Dan and Kathleen & Myself all use Lake Crawford. He's in Granite Bay. He more expensive than doing it yourself, but he does awesome work. He does both accounting and taxes.

I pay taxes annually on my 1099's but then I don't make a ton of money off the side business. Are you actually required to pay them on a quarterly basis, or are you doing it so you don't have any mojar issues at the end of the year?

You couild pay them by the end of you year if you'd like. When you pay quarterly you pay for "estimated" taxes. It's prevents the OMG HOW MUCH DO I HAVE TO PAY?!?! feeling when taxes are due.

As I've understood it from talking to people who 1099 in IT (and my father who is 1099 in a different industry) you pay quarterly or else you can get owned with fines at the end of the year. Not sure, I just don't want to get raped by the IRS.

I use to pay yearly when i didn't have too much earned in 1099's with no penatlies but then later decided to go quarterly after i started making more.
