What are you talking about? The Z06 is pure spank bank material. If I could get one for STi prices I would.

I don't like any of the 'big 3' car manufacturers but I would own a Viper GTS, Ford GT, or Corvette Z06. I will look past my issues with those brands and be happy.

Ive driven a 99 C5 vette many times and it was straight s3x. I havent driven a new z06 but I imagine its worlds above the 99! I would gladly take one over an STi, roof or not!

Talking

Its funny to compare the two communities, if a roof flew off of my 28k WRX everyone in here would be flipping out making phone calls & writing letters and generally having a fit but these guys just brush it off like having body panels flying off your car is an acceptable and common occurance

ya but the WRX guys have to deal with exploding transmisions. The vette guys would probably implode if they were told they couldn't drive their cars hard.

didnt see the TSB about the pulley bolt on the vette breaking leading to catastrophic engine failure or the exploding rear ends either huh?

i personally like the vette a lot but GM is making the whole US look incompetent by making a flagship sports car that self destructs

I wasn't saying that subaru had more problems. I was just saying that there are things that make all of us unhappy. I'd rather loose the roof inthe above example.

True that is. its just that a roof flying off, even though infinitely cheaper than a transmission, is ridiculous and comical esp. at 60mph and should never be an issue that any car has to deal with. People will expect transmissions to break but not to have the roof fly off their 70k sports car

those C6s actually come with 2 roofs... rooves... eh whatever... the guy made of money off the vette forum might have said what he said because of that, who knows. "Eh, so my painted roof came apart, I still have my glass one." Yeah, still no excuse to write it totally off, but it kinda brings a dim light to his whacked mentality ::shrug::

GM quality at work. Things like this are the reason why I'll never buy a GM vehicle.

z06s have a fixed roof, not a removable targa top.

The Corvette crowd is a completely different animal man... I am 35 and a total grandfather of a man when I hang out with this crew here (You kids get off my lawn!!!) but when I had my C5 in 2000 I was a good 20 years younger than anyone in the local Corvette crew. These guys (and gals) are your classic apple pie, hot dogs, baseball and Chevrolet folks. They get a new Vette every 4 years or so, so they are always under warranty, it really isn't a big deal to them. They are retired, have money and have their dream car.

Having said that, I have a 2001 Camaro SS with T-tops and I have lost 3 seperate passenger side t-tops due to "Operator Error".
