Honest Opinion.

Overall what is your opnion on the better chassiss the GC or the GD? And do you think subaru needs to change the GD to smaller chassiss? Either just list pros and cons or just state your opinion. And motors dont matter, just picture the new 06 sti motor in a GC or GD which would you rather have?

GC is lighter, but not as stiff. Fenders aren't as big, so you can't take advantage of big r-compounds. Interior is better on the later cars, and they have more room inside.

So, GD is a better, more developed chassis. GC has a lighter, smaller chassis. Without some sort of a performance metric or targeted use (rally, track car, autocorss, street car) this is a discussion without parameters to discuss. or compare.

I prefer a clean STi-swapped GM with a seam-welded chassis and a cage to allow for running beefy suspension without tearing the unibody apart, for any sort of competition use. I'd prefer a factory 05+ car for street driving.

Owns 2 Legacies, so is staying out of this discussion.

The GD is a better chasis for tracking IMO. Stiffer, and better laid out.

GC/GM has a classic look to it though, and if you seam weld it and add a cage, its a damn fine chasis as well.

But, in reality, the BL chasis is really the best

No, not the doors. It means to fully weld all the other seams in the chassis that are normally just spot welded. Significant strength advantage, but you can really only do it if the shell is completely stripped out.

I like the GD chassis but I wish it were mated to the GC/GM body style. That would be pure sex. Subaru made significant improvement in torsional stiffness of the GD chassis and this will work the suspension harder when modded with things like stiffer springs or coilovers, rather than causing the chassis itself to flex in response to load from bumps and cornering.

Even race cars with full seam welds may eventually wear out the chassis from hard use. You know you have a problem when you are having to change the spring rates and damper settings stiffer and stiffer over the course of several seasons of road racing, when in fact the problem may be a chassis that is suffering metal fatigue. Properly triangulated welded-in roll cages will extend the useful life of any racing chassis.

I think I read this on the internet.

GD is better from an engineering standpoint, period. Especially the later you get in model years. GC/GM just looks better and is a bit lighter.

I have nothing else to add past Scott, Aaron, and Alan.
