Question autobytel.com a sham???

was looking thru classifieds for used subie's (coming soon!)
and went to the usual cars.com, autos.yahoo.com (which is autotrader), carmax.com (overpriced a bit), vehix.com (worthless for used cars) and then i found autobytel.com...
it seems legit, been around forever...
so i started searching and it came back with 3 WRX's
all of which are well under the market value...
2 04's for $6,999
and an 02 for $5,800
they both say within 100 miles of my zip, but one of the emails is "@nycny.net" so i've got to wonder...
the site doesn't tell you city or zipcode where it is located, or any other buyer information like "normal" car classified sites, just a email address to contact the seller...

just wondering if anyone else knows good/bad things about the site....

on a side note; anyone know of any better classified ad sites i can browse?
i think i've hit every used car dealer's site in the greater Sac/Bay Area and di dcraigslist in both the Bay & Sac...
jus tlooking for more cars...since the good used subies tend to be rare or still high on the price scale.

Is he nucking futs? $8,700 for a car that has 106K on the clock and an electrical system that occasionally goes out?

If he were to trade that in at a dealership he would be lucky to get $1,000.

hahaha #1 comes back as the Nigeria type scam:
Good day ,

The price for my Subaru is 5,800 $.
For a smooth and fast process i will need your name and address for the
shipping and you need to have the cash ready couse as you know a loan
could take a while.I m located in London,UK.The shipping and the
insurance will be paid by me.You dont have to worry about the customs cause
the car is still registered in US.Its a US specs car ,thats why i have
choosen your market. The shipping will take about 10 days.
I decided to sell the car soon thats why i have choosen this price for
it.I think this will be a good deal for both of us as long i have a
good car which was never damaged or involved in a car accident ,but as
well i need money soon.As soon as i receive the info i required and your
comfirmation that you have the funds and you are going to buy my car for
sure i will make the arrangements for shipping. The shipping will be
covered by me.PLEASE SENT YOUR REPLY IN THIS E MAIL ADDRESS
:carsdealer11@nycny.net

I hope to hear soon from you and complete the transaction!
hahahahaaaa....
i didn't think these were still out there...
so i guess all the for sale ads on autobytel are all shams...
neat!
know not to look there for my new car.
it almost sound like he's a rookie...
wants to confirm my address so he can ship it...
ship away homie...if the car shows up and DMV clears it i'll pay up!

I saw the same thing. I thought it was a wrecked car but when the guy said he was in London I almost died laughing. Now I'm having fun with him by email.

Maybe he will take a money order from my broker in Nigeria that is for more than the amount of the car and he can send me the difference?
