Question

ok. questions. What exactly goes on at the test n tune part of the day? Do I just walk up and pay my $30 or do I sign up online? What do the letter/letters in between snell and 2000 mean. Say snell SA200 and Snell M2000. Are either ok. Sorry I'm very confused. I'm thinking of coming up Sunday. I want to come up saturday for beginers training but I can't get it off work. Sounds like fun though.

I have a question too. Is there a club like the SCCA but where the events start at like 3:00PM? I don't wake up at 6:00AM on weekends for anything! haha

Vegas does. They run night events because it is so hot there.

you must try it!!! even if you only make it on one of the day's and still sleep in the next. auto-x is a real rush, if you think you know how to stick a corner? auto-x will make you better at it! you don't have to come out to every event, but then again you might find yourself going to more and more once you start.

I think the Saturday school last year was a great expierence and would recomend it for anyone that has not driven on a course of any kind. I found that I didn't fully push my car as hard as I thought I could and that meant I had a bunch of room for improvment! I cant wait for the season to start!!!!!!

Yeah I know I should try it, but sleep, sweet sleep! About 4 years ago I did the inagural Thunderhill run with the NCRC and that was a blast but I had to get up at 5:00 to drive out there. That was in the Viper ACR and was a complete white knuckle day, when I tried to go out in the WRX a couple of years ago I got PWNED!

Membership to NCRC - $80
Thunderhill Track Day -$200
Getting a flat tire on the way there, turning around and going home... Priceless...

M2000 is perfectly acceptable for autocross. It's only open track events that may occasionally check for SA.

I thought the M was better? That's all I got. I hadn't planned on getting a new helmet for the track.

The shell of the SM2000 is basically abrasion resistant, in case you're sliding down the tarmac on your mellon. I don't know the rules on AutoX/HPDE helmets, maybe someone else can chime in.

From Soloracer.com

Key differences between SA and M Rated Helmets (from Snell website):
SA standard requires flammability test while the M standard does not.
SA standard has rollbar impact test while M standard does not.
SA standard allows narrower visual field than M standard (Some SA helmets aren't street legal).

If you want to do any track events, I'd reccomend a closed face hemlet.
