(CBS/AP) SACRAMENTO A Sacramento woman is facing criminal charges after she allegedly shot a suspected thief in the head early this morning. She says he was trying to steal marijuana plants growing in the yard of a local home when it happened.
Thirty-two-year-old Adrienne Simone has been arrested on charges of assault with a deadly weapon.
The shooting happened at around about 2:45 a.m. on Main Ave. and Taylor St. Police say that as many as three people were allegedly trying to break into the backyard of the home so they could steal 12 marijuana plants growing there when the female suspect spotted the group from inside the home, grabbed a rifle and fired, hitting one of the people in the head.
The 17-year-old male victim is on life support at the the Mercy San Juan Medical Center in Carmichael.
"If you are going to use any kind of deadly force, you have to be in fear for your life," said Sgt. Leong, Sacramento Police. "In fear of your property alone is not justification to shoot and use deadly force."
Simone doesn't live at the home where the alleged shooting took place. Police say they haven't determined whether or not the plants were being legally grown.

LOL ballsy. Yeah I can see that. This person actually is allowed to legally grow it since its for medicinal purposes, but the cops did warn her while it is legal for her to do so problems still could arise.
