are those painted or powder coated?

 

They're painted after a full bead blast. They came out perfect. You don't want to PC forged wheels, it's bad news and makes them fragile.

you have to bake the powder for it to become paint, hot hot heat...

Where can you get rims bead blasted?

 

Temperatures as low as 400 degrees (easily attainable in hotspots in a PC oven) will anneal aluminum. This means it loses its temper. This is a much bigger problem with forged wheels becuase they're usually built lighter and thineer and compensated by the innate strenght provided by the process. Cast wheels are poured from molten metal instead of pressure-formed, so they're less likely to be affected by temporary lower temparature rises.

 

Any place that does powder work should be able to do it in-house (becuase they should be doing it before PC anyways), or recommend an option. I got the BBS's done at a place by the old shop in Rancho, US Powder Coating, that had PC'd some RS wheels for me in the past.
