The ghetto fix was too ghetto.
I suppose. Special order parts and a poor distribution network really.
It lasted 4 track days.

You can get parts quicker than any other dealer?
Do you want to know or something?
Oh good. I was begging to think that I may have lost my touch.

Where to start...
I found a receipt in the car for the AAA battery that's under the hood. The receipt was from January this year. The battery is fairly new. Cool. What I didn't notice, there's a ****ton of corrosion on the frame and engine below the battery. Ok, the old battery probably exploded or something. NBD. Apparently some of that acid got into the connector for the #2 coil pack. As a result the connector is corroded and melted. Added bonus, the coil pack is dead. #2 isn't firing.
For whatever reason, Subaru changed the coil packs in 2011. 2011 and after, they're black. Before 2011, they are grey. My mechanic had a grey one. No one had a back one.
Grey one fits and works. The connector is ****ed up, zip tie it on.
This works for a bit. Worked last night, worked for a little while this morning. Doesn't work anymore.
Black coil and a new connector have been ordered. Hopefully they will arrive on Monday.
The nice thing about all of this... #2 and #4 were checked and they are healthy. Overall, the engine is in good shape. This is good to know.

ahh ok I get it now. well that's not too bad. make sure they properly remove the pins and re-install into new connector vs snipping off and soldering/crimping like most hackjob places try to do. You want that wiring intact and 1 piece no matter what.
