Want to start racing... What to do
So I want to start racing competitively. I had planned on building a spec miata and racing that but have recently thought about my other options and am having a hard time making a decision what to do.
What do you think I should do and why? And if option 4 is what you think I should do, make a second selection from 1-3 since that may not be a possibility.
Options:
1) Race Spec Miata
2) Turn my 07 STi into a time trials car (gt52, fmic, ~450whp, cage, 17x10" wheels or something crazy like that, fender flares, somewhat stripped but would still be my "daily driver", etc)
3) Build a turbo Miata to do time trials in (probably about 250whp and 2000 lbs)
4) Not sure if this is even a possibility, but it might be. Time trials a Factory Five GTM. Rear engine (LS7), 500 hp 2300 lbs).

i know this wasnt one of ur options but go with a 510 with a ka24 turbo or a sr20 u can build the car for cheap from the ground up there light and if u know how to race a 510 will smash any thing on the track if u dont belive me talk to the guys at dgr fabrication
I went with Option 2. Cage being welded in right now at GST Motorsports. Got new rotors, brake lines, etc. Ohlins at all 4 corners. Haven't done a turbo swap yet as I figure I'll work on handling first...
Took the caged car to Thunderhill last weekend. Huge difference in chassis flex. The car is very rigid now. Brian at goto:racing put it in and did a great job. I highly recommend him..
Took the car back to GST for the Ohlins (they didn't arrive in time to install before track day). Also getting the green turbo upgrade while it's at the shop.
I'm really looking forward to Infineon in a few weeks...
