Subaru making us proud at the NBR challenge 2011
I don't think there was a thread about this yet. I found out about the race a few days after it happened so I didn't get to watch it live..
The 24 hours of Nurburgring took place 23-26 of June 2011 where Subaru took the overall first place after completing 142 laps in the 24 hour time period with the next place Audi TT S 2 laps behind with 140 laps. Subaru has shown the world what the GR chassis STI is capable of and has giving more meaning to owning a Subaru. For Subaru to have beat the German manufactures on their home course is a great accomplishment. This is a big victory and another page for the history books for Subaru racing heritage.
The STI used for the race started as the new STI tS, which is Subaru's new light weight high performance production STI. The roof is carbon, and various suspension bits are taken from the R205, and of course a ball-bearing big twin scroll turbo. Of course we will never see this special edition here in the states, but still good to know that Subaru is always at the drawing board trying to make the STI better and faster than the competition.
