I thought autoX was fun...been doing it since 1986!
Just don't get wrapped up in it, think of it as a driving experience for you and you only, then hey, mid season you'll break into the top 4! Take advantage of people offering coaching. It helps a great deal.

Definately a good time. Especially if the others in your area arrange for a bar b q get together afterwards. If anything go to a auto-x and ask somebody if you can do a ride along. Sure you'll have to wear a helmet and hold on but it will give you a good idea of what it will be like when you enter an event.

Of course auto-x is fun... Where else could you go out and drive the heck out of your car and not get arrested...
Besides, auto-xers have the comon thread of being car nuts, great people to learn from, and are usually very helpful in giving advice about how to drive.
Oh yeah, and if you're in Hawaii, those subaru nuts are a bunch of loud mouth trash talkers... Yup, we're the best!

Hell ya it is! Doesn't matter if you have a WRX or a 1997 Impreza Brighton, as long as you have a good suspension and AWD.
The turbo doesn't matter much, if anything it hurts you in the curves

Tires, tires, tires! Nothing makes you look like a hero more than tires that are better than the rest of your car, and nothing more a goat than ousy ones. I'd bet on a stock GM6 RS with BFG KD's over a stock WRX with RE92's on a course that didn't have long straights.
