spt parts for autox
hi, i was wondering about SPT parts being used in scca solo 2. will it kick me out of d-stock? it is from subaru(as options). shouldn't it be just like the neon's and mopar parts being allowed to use different spring rates, etc? (if i remember right)
thanks b

Nope, SPT is actually a dealer installed option.
SCCA says that that would put you in (i think) ESP or STX
I had those questions too when I started autoxing.

According the latest FasTrack update, the short-shifter (Subaru) is allowed in DS. Other aftermarket brands are not allowed however.

thanks for your replies
i finally went to scca with the wagon and it was fun. in short, the spt left the car feeling like a boat with the weight being high. i ended up going into SM because of my sti scoop, even though i was bone stock. well, i did have a 3/16 mod.
oh well, i would take off the scoop, but i like the look and the rest of the subies are mostly in SM, so i'll stay there. i think i felt the "beauty of all wheel drive". thanks again. b

Here are the allowed mods for DS for the WRX:
Any tire that fits on the stock rim size (you can run any rim, as long as it measures the same as stock). I would recommend Falken Azenis for combined street and auto-x, and Kumho Victroracers/Hoosiers for auto-x only
SPT/STi short shifter
Any gauges
You can replace struct cartridges, which for the WRX is kind of wierd, since they are not replacable. Koni and KYB make cartridges, but you have to cut up your existing struts to install them. All mounting locations and bolts must be original, so getting more negative camber is limited to what can be squeezed out of your car, since replacement camber bolts (crash bolts) and adjustable top mounts are illegal.
You can change all bushings to just about anything you want (i.e. Neophrene)
Colder spark plugs
Harnesses (starts to be a good idea when you up the tires to the Kumho's)
Subaru OEM aero kit
Any brake pad
Any catback exhaust (includes having nothing after the last cat, as long as it meets the 92dB noise limit).
Any air filter, but you cannot switch intake systems (Basically like K&N filters)
And that is about it. No dealer, or port installed options, such as 17" wheels, SPT struts, endlinks, scoops, Subaru 4 pot calipers, stainless steel brake lines, so on and so on. It has to be a factory installed to be legal in stock class. The idea was that any normally item that is replaced during normal service can be replaced with a higher performance part. But no don't think about today's cars, think cars from circa 1970, where shocks/struts, bushings, etc, were are regular replacement items.
Stock is a pretty harsh class, and if you get good, you can even be disqualified for removing the Subaru letters from your trunk! I am personally going to stay in stock, since unless you know where you started from, you would never know if what you are adding is helping or what. There are definitely a few driving techniques that are easier to learn with more inexpensive parts, than too be learning and always placing at teh bottom of the pack.

Damn my mistakes. I was totally off base. Both KC and 03WRX are right.
Only the shock absorber bushing is replacable with alternate materials. WRX = all struts, no bushings, So no bushing can be replaced with anything but stock.
OEM Aero kit, which I could have sworn was a factory item in 02, I cannot find any information stating that it is a factory item in 03.
As a good reference here a link to the "unoffical" SCCA rules for Solo II:
