I'm fine with the name... and now I have a question... is there anywhere in maryland this is done...

 

Both Summit Point and Virginia International Raceway are close enough to be considered "local" to Maryland.....at least to a track *****, like me.

(definition: local: any track that is less than 12 hours away)

So...CART races on the street, is that bad? LOL. Well, u also have to know that any kind of motorsport is dangerous, unless its R/C cars...well if you don't give the transmitter to your kid if you want to keep your toes hehe.

 

Road racing is the correct term. It is a term rooted in history.

Back in the good old days the races were actually held on roads.
Watking Glen was run on public roads. The Vanderbult Cup was run on the public roads of Bridgehampton. It is still fairly common practice in Europe, Mille millia [spelling], the Tourist trophy races in Great Britian, The Nurburing in Germany. Even stages of the WRC. The big difference is the roads are temporarily closed to the public.
What some pople get so worked up about is street racing, Illegal, and most of all incredibly stupid. Just because someone is not familiar with the definition of a term does not make them stupid, just ignorant or misinformed, either is very cureable.

We have plenty of good people here to learn from as long as we are willing to listen.
