First time AutoX: I'm so hooked!

I autoXed my car in Stockton and I had a blast. I was a little timid to be throwing my car around like that but I think I did considerably well. Fastest time was 45.421 slowest was 48.807. There were 2 other GC8 running 41. and 40.s
The both had coilovers, intake, exhaust, and Falken Azenis.
There were Corvettes on race rubber doing 39.s

I got hooked instantly and am pretty proud of my times considering I was on stock suspension with horrible Yokohama YK420 with ZERO tread left.

What is a good track tire that I can still use on the street?

I don't use them but everyone I know likes Falken Azenis. The people who use them run them in autox, track days, and still run them on the street. One thing to look into would be picking up an extra set of wheels and buying DOT legal R compound tires. I used to run on Kumho Victoracers and have recently switched to Hoosiers. If this isn't an option for you then the Azenis would be the tire to get. The Azenis is the best tire for performance driving that can still be run on the street. The Victoracers and Hoosiers are a full step above the Azenis(aka a few seconds faster with a good driver). I work at a road race track and know a fair amount of people run the Toyos for road racing. However, I don't see anyone use them for autox because in an autox they won't get warm enough to be really sticky.

However, look into the DOT legal race tires like the Kumho or Hoosier. My WRX is stock except for the tires and since they are DOT rated I can still run SCCA stock class. It is important to keep in mind that other than the driver the tires are the most important go fast part of a car. Without good tires it doesn't matter what else you've got.

NO KIDDING! My face is charred!

You guys were going pretty darn fast. I was sliding all over place. I will have new tires for the 28th and hopefully will be going much faster (and of course lots of sunscreen).

So what happened to your friends sway bar?
