2.5rs Auto-x newbie
So I want to go Autocrossing in my 2000 2.5RS
The first question : if I upgrade my wheels to 17 or 18 am I in Street Touring?
Is there much of a difference in Stock versus street touring as far as competition.(midwest region)
Is street touring that modified that simple wheel changes would not be enough to be competitive?
Thanks
Shujun

Q: The first question : if I upgrade my wheels to 17 or 18 am I in Street Touring?
A: Yes, or you could go into DSP. (But I would suggest STS)
Q: Is there much of a difference in Stock versus street touring as far as competition.(midwest region)
A: I'm sure there's many people in STS as it's one of the largest classes at any event. But the idea is to show up and have fun. You won't be competitive (time wise) to the fast guys the 1st year or so. So learn what the cones mean, walk the course, learn what your car does, walk the course, and.. walk the course again... with people that know what they are doing. (And pay attention)
Q: Is street touring that modified that simple wheel changes would not be enough to be competitive?
A: Anyone is compteitive. But like I said above... someone with more auto-x seat time than you will always be faster than you in a non-modified or underprepped car. You can't go in to an auto-x as a novice thinking you're going to beat anyone... just try and improve your driving, and your times from run to run. And have fun there with all the others that enjoy the sport too.
I would say find the novice chair person if they have one to get some tips and what to do, or ask questions of people that have been doing this for a while. Poeple are always willing to lend a hand.
