I thought they were the same thing. I know you need a bluray player for BR but do you need an HD DVD player for HD DVD's?

yeah, you need a HD DVD player for the HD DVD's. Most HD DVD players will play regular DVDs.

I don't think blue ray will survive. Mini disk didn't.

MD is survive for a long time outside of US. It's weird how us American have different standard =P

the biggest difference is capacity blu-ray 25GB, HD-DVD 15GB
blu-ray is well supported by panasonic, pioneer, sony, disney and warner bro.
HD-DVD is led by toshiba, microsoft and intel and is exclusive with universal studios. more movie studios seem to support HD-DVD. ther are more hd-dvd titles out now versus blu-ray
so basically whichever pr0n chooses will win
