WRC Hood

I've done quite a few searches and haven't found the anwer I'm looking for so I'll just ask here (this seemed the the most appropriate forum). Does anyone actually know what the hood vent (the one in front of the hood scoop) is actually for?

In that picture, it looks like the Impreza WRC has an FMIC which is what the vent is used for whereas the hood scoop feeds the air intake. Someone please clarify this for me.

yes it sems it is a vent for the fmc. i would also guess that it would cut down on the amount of crud that would collect under the hood and still allow exelent flow

Yes, you're right the hood vent is for the FMIC. The hood scoop feeds the intake.

That's not entirely true with the current car: the hoodscoop feeds the media and the image, that's about it. The while the ducts in front of the scoop are indeed for the FMIC, they also serve to get the hot air flowing through the IC out of the engine bay instead of through it like the typical TMIC.

Nothing beats the awesomeness of the reverse manifold and the v-mount intercooler / radiator setup. Hotness!

I'd be really curious to see the exhaust manifold on the rally car. The turbo's inlet is pointing up!

Anyone have pics of it?

I think they orient the turbo this way so that they can use their anti-lag system. What's up with all the spark plugs?

I think the pick you linked to is the Group N car. But the vent that exits out of the front of the hood is to keep hot air that passes through the rad from the engine bay
