Angry WRC coverage on Speed getting worse

okay, about half an hour ago i sat down to watch tonight's episode of Rally XS since i'd programmed my TiVo to record it. i hit play, only to find a solid half hour of NASCAR happy hour qualifying or practice, not that it particularly matters which. what the hell is up with Speed not showing rally coverage as scheduled? it's not like there is Rallying is on 24/7 or anything, but instead of a measly half hour rally highlight show we're treated to endless circular left turns. nascar and speed.

i emailed them a while back about rally coverage, and it doesn't seem to have made a damn bit of differance. maybe it's time to call in to the Wind Tunnel program (which, by the way, i've never even watched) and complain about it there.

This certainly isn't the first time Speed has preempted a show because NASCAR was late, or ran long. I did catch the last few minutes of Rally XS at midnight Eastern. You should check out Wind Tunnel, I watch regularly. It isn't all NASCAR, they discuss any and all forms of racing. Unfortunately, there isn't alot of rally talk on the show.

I'm pretty happy with Speed's coverage of WRC events. You have Rally XS, two hours of coverage on Sunday night, and Rally Xtra. That is about the same amount of time they give to CART and F1 races. Admittedly, there could be more, but I'm just happy WRC coverage isn't delayed a week like it used to be.

Now, SCCA ProRally is another story...

the problem isn't really the number of shows dedicated to rallying, but the fact that 1/3rd of them are getting pre-empted by NASCAR on a regular basis.

i agree though that they could do with more SCCA pro rally coverage.

I watched the RallyXS show last night. It was on about 10 minutes after the hour and was only about 10 minutes long. They just showed highlights and results of the last two rallies and gave a little preview of Spain.

Rally Xtra was delayed about 30 minutes this week I think by the nascar qualifiying as it was last week when I tuned in at 11 to watch... the cable tv guide channel said FIA rally championship or somesuch like that was supposed to air.

This week's Rally Xtra was a season recap up to spain, and it was half an hour long as scheduled.

Last week they ran Rally Xtra all the way to the finish and joined into their regular scheduled programming.

They ARE at least putting the full length coverage in, so we can't complain TOO much, however, I agree that I don't want to watch a stockcar go around in circles making only left turns. I'm not 6 anymore. :P

speed is an american channel and those simple hick minds need to be entertained by hicks driving 200 laps (all left turns-what a challange) at 200 miles... thats why its on the channel 24/7... there is no winning with them... we should be fortunate that we get what we get... might be crap but still something... hopefully there will be a real motorsport channel in the future, until then we're stuck with crap... my opinion only... no need to get pissed

i just hate how when they air a rally, the commercials are almost as long as the rally coverage.

what really baffles me, is that there is so much variety in motorsports these days, and speed only shows a very small percentage of it. NASCAR is one sport, in one country. i don't know who watches the tenth re-run of a NASCAR race, and can't understand why speed can't air JGTC, australian V8 supercars, DKM, BTC and all sorts of other series instead.

i know it's an american channel, and that there are a lot of people into NASCAR. that said, i don't even think that NASCAR fans watch happy hour qualifying, or the 1982 brickyard 500.
