>>>>>Rally WRX questions?
I'm interested in obtaining my scca rally license.
I'm thinking of buying an '03 WRX and using it in getting my seat time and lessons for a rally license.
My questions are;
Will the '03 WRX fall into Production GT class? If not, then what class?
What modification can be done to the WRX in this class? Can I run dirt specific tires?
What safety requirement are needed to be "legal" in the class?
If you have any information or site links, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for the help.

I believe a stock wrx falls into Production GT.
The rest of the questions, go to scca.org
EDIT: I be wrong, WRX is in Production GT.

You are going about it all wrong!
-First off, if you need questions answered about rally in the US you should post them on www.specialstage.com that is where rally people hang out, not here
- Secondly, Do not, I repeat, do not build your first rally car, and do not start with a WRX! Buy yourself an already prepared rally car for cheap money, preferably a low powered front wheel drive one. You might think you can handle a WRX just fine but it is a different story on a gravel road with trees. Most rally drivers will agree that it is better to learn on FWD initially. If you build one, you will waste a lot of time and money doing the preparation, when instead, you could be competing and getting seat time instead
You are almost guaranteed to crash and why destroy an expensive WRX right after you finished it? There will be plenty of time later to move into a car like that.
-Take the money you saved by buying an already built car and get yourself into the Team O'Neil Rally School School. You will get invaluable lessons and lots of seat time and I believe you will come out of it with an SCCA Club Rally license or there is a special course for that.
-Go work some rallies, get immersed in the community, you will learn a lot that way.
-Navigate for someone
-Do some rallycrosses
To clarify the misinformation given, the stock WRX is a Production GT car not production
