Gnarly crash. Glad to hear Solberg is alright. Mills went to the hospital, but he's supposed to be alright too.
Unless Loeb really fouls something up, Solberg will slip to 32 points behind Loeb after today. He's still positive about defending his title, though, so that some good news. It'll be tough for him to still win the Championship, but its still doable, and should be a good show.

Hey, up yours, Viking067, for posting a spoiler. Someone should delete this thread ... I spot it just from the forum home's 'last post' column, without even going into the motorsports forum.

Viking067, please refrain from posting anything about the current rally until after it has aired on SpeedTV. If you must post something, please do not put what happened in the thread title and indicate that it is a spoiler.
man, quiet a few scary crashes in this rally. tarmac = go fast! solberg's was the worst, though. glad everyone was all right. no more retirement, please, petter! he's now 4th on the list.

It was scary to see the rollcage buckle and then be pushed in with each consecutive flip especially with the in car camera.
I think the rollcage needs to be redesigned.
When he flipped did the roof hit the concrete barrier?

I don't think so. If the roof hit one of those Hinkelsteins, I think the crash would have been fatal. It looks like the car hit one, then did its rolls on the pavement, ending up on the other side of the road.
But then again, it might of. I haven't seen any footage from outside the car.

wow, not one crack in the roll cage or the welding. That is amazing, especially considering how much the cage crunched.
EDIT: Sonicsuby, you were right about the hinkelsteins. Man, I can't believe that hitting those stones upside down wasn't fatal. Simply amazing.
“I don’t want to make an excuse for what happened,” he said in his exclusive column for Motorsport News. “I lifted a bit for the crest, but we had new tyres and I didn’t warm them enough. They were still too cold, and we didn’t have enough grip. The car just slid sideways into the concrete.
“I’m very impressed with the standards at Subaru. Everything was well handled after the accident, with doctors and everything, but also the car itself is very good with the way it is welded and put together. We didn’t get one crack in the rollcage or in the welding. Somebody in Prodrive needs a big trophy. It was incredible after an accident like that.”

Their works Impreza was utterly destroyed in a high-speed collision with the Hinkelsteins bordering a left-hander on SS12, hitting five of the concrete, tank-repelling blocks before rolling across the road. Mills was taken to hospital, but discharged the same day.

I guess that explains the rollcage buckling. I thought it had just rolled on the street.
Thats one h*ll of a point load. I don't think any designer could have predicted that.
