Porsche took a first step back into rallying last weekend, supporting Belgian driver Marc Duez and the Future World team on the Tour of Flanders.
Duez drove a 911 GT3 in what amounted to Group N tune as a test for the Porsche GT3 Road Challenge, which will run within next year's Belgian Championship. He slid off gently and damaged the radiator at one point, but also set three fastest stage times overall.
Porsche Motorsport's Roland Kussmaul confirmed that the company is keen for the FIA to permit N-GT cars to take part in rallies and that it would support Future World's plans.
"I feel 20 years youunger!" Duez said. "The reaction of the spectators was fantastic. Our times were excellent and you must remember that it is really a Group N car.:"
The Future World car is two-wheel drive and has a 3.6-litre engine.
