well, it comes down to RAlly GB as the decider. there are a few ways Petter solberg and his subaru can win the championship but it would be best if he just won GB and took the WRC title home. Subaru as manufacturer wont take #1 but can easily take 3rd which isnt bad.
tune in to rally gb and also pray for rain and/or sh*tty weather

basically, Petter has to score two more points than either Carlos Sainz, or Sebastian Loeb. neither Sainz nor Loeb are slow by any means, and both are quite capable of winning in Wales. from what i've read on wrc.com, Petter claims that he is going to try to win it with smart tactics, but i'm guessing that one of the three title contenders will win the rally -- thereby taking the championship.

points in the WRC are handed out to the top eight finishers as follows:
1st - 10pts
2nd - 8pts
3rd - 6 pts
4th - 5pts
5th - 4pts
6th - 3pts
7th - 2pts
8th - 1pt
that makes it a lot easier to figure out where people have to finish to win the championship -- like i said earlier, Solberg has to score two more points than Loeb or Sainz to win regardless of where in the points he finishes.

there will be an advantage for the top runners if it's wet and nasty. normally the first few cars running on the road in a gravel rally will have to sweep a clean line, which benefits the cars behind them. on rallies where there is a layer of softer dirt underneath the gravel, the stones get pushed into the mud instead of being swept off the line. as such, the cars tend to get better traction than they woudd if they were sweeping the line clean.
if it gets too nasty, the cars running father down the field will also have to deal with heavy rutting of the roads, due to the cars running up front. since the WRC runs in championship order on day 1, it would benefit Petter, Carlos and Loeb to have wet conditions.
