Subaru has mirrored the attitude of its new world champion Petter Solberg by refusing to wrest on its laurels - and has already begun testing the new car which will carry the Norwegian's hopes of claiming back-to-back WRC titles.

Car builder Prodrive started shakedown work in the UK after last weekend's Rally Great Britain and will shortly be moving on to test in Spain. The team will concentrate on two main areas of development: the engine and aerodynamics.

"This is the middle part of our development of this Impreza," said team principal David Lapworth.

"The new car does look quite different compared with this year's version, thanks to the aero changes. As for the engine, in some places we have been quite adventurous and made some big alterations. This is and evolution rather than a revolution. It's not as big a change as we've made in the past. It's not like when we brought out the 2000 Impreza - that was a new car."

The Impreza WRC2004 is due to be seen in competition in April.

 

i can hardly wait to see pics of the new aero package, and to see how the car does in Monte Carlo. it'd better be good, considering whats been leaking out of the Mitsubishi camp about the new EVO WRC.

By saying that the car will look quite different do you think this means it will be a drastic change? Such as the change between the WRC2002 and WRC2003 car.
