Hyundai out Until '06
so now Hyundai's out after 03 until 06. no mention on wrc.com where or what their current drivers will do.
BH Lee, HMC's director of overseas marketing and promotion explained: "Withdrawing is a painful decision but also a realistic admission that a break is absolutely mandatory for us to reorganize and rethink our entire approach to motorsport. But we'll be back in 2006 in fighting form with a completely new engine and car to mount a more credible challenge for the WRC crown,"
whos next... Fords budget may not even allow them to contuinue for the remainder of the 03 season. who knows about 04. Hopefully Skoda will continue with wrc, seeing as they just introduced their new car. and Mitsu does plan to return in 04.
but with only two cars per team, and teams leaving, the WRC field is starting to dwindle. not what professional rallying needs at this point in the game...

well, Loix is headed to Puegot as of last i heard from wrc.com. i'm not sure what Schwarz will be doing, but i don't think that there is going to be much of a market for him with Colin not able to find a ride so far. Maybe Mitsubishi will pick him up, but i think that they could do better.

i don't know for sure whether or not Loix is out due to the new rule. Peugot can field him as a driver, because he has not finished on the podium in the last three years. however, he cannot be nominated to score manufacturer's points under the new rule -- at least that's my understanding.
