Help get my car rally equipped
Hello all.
Currently I drive a 2005 WRX with JIC Coilovers, 5zigen 17x7.5 RSX-6's, and standard bolt ons:
- Invidia Up Pipe
- Invidia Down Pipe
- SPT Short Ram intake
- JIC 505 Bullet Exhaust
I know engine isn't a major factor. (HP Wise) to go out and have some fun.
Im trying to figure out if the coilovers I have now will support me through easy/medium terrain or if I should go out and get a nice spring/shock setup.
other than that. Bushing and upgraded mounts will also be a plus. Just curious about the suspension setup and if it will work properly. Im sure I will have to raise my car up a bit so im not draggin side skirts
Help me turn my car into a rally beast.
Your input is greatly appreciated.
Cheers.

thats a start. yea, i'll prob pick up some 15's w/ alot of tire.
Most importantly i'd like to know if my coilovers can handle the off-road conditions of would spring/shock setup be better.
Thanks,
Adam

Go out and buy an old Dodge Omni or Ford Festiva or Mazda MR2 and weld a cage in it and drive that instead. Rally doesn't need AWD nor high horsepower, and $24,000 daily drivers are a hell of a lot more expensive to replace or repair.
These make fantastic rally cars:

Deff rally something else, that car is way too beautiful to destroy. And when do buy your beater rally car (old turbo legacy is best way to go imo) first thing first - Safety. Forget horsepower and suspension and brakes. Make the car as safe as possible, roll cage, good helmet, neck guard. Than go in this order Brakes, suspension, lastly work on your motor. Good luck.

Step 1: buy used rally car
Step 2: ???
Step 3: Profit!!!
Seriously... building rally cars from scratch is for people with way more money than sense (or a sponsored race team). Buy someone else's defaulted mortgage and broken marriage, and save yourself a lot of headaches.

If you can't afford to wrap it around a tree and walk away, you can't afford to rally it. That's my personal philosophy :-)
Even total pros wreck their cars all the time, in any kind of conditions. A friend of mine rolled a sponsored EVO in the second turn at an SCCA-sponsored rally; all it took was a little ditch in the corner that was in shadow, and suddenly 90% of the body panels on the car were crumpled like an old paper bag. He was able to shake it off and walk away because it wasn't his car -- another great plan! :-)

Why do you say that? There's no reason you can't rallycross almost any stock car. Not sure I'd try it with a Corvette, or an Elise, but there's not a Subaru made I wouldn't take rallycrossing in stock form.
