PR-LDR to award Thong at Perce-Neige!

February 4, 2004 Bangor Maine
ProRally Team Last Ditch Racing and their partner Triple Caution, Inc., are pleased to announce the continuation of the Last Ditch Racing/Triple Caution Thong award for 2004. The Thong was last awarded to multiple Canadian Champion Tom McGeer at the Rally of the Tall Pines for doing the most damage to his car and finishing.
The team will award the first Thong of 2004 at the Ralllye Perce-Neige Maniwaki this coming weekend in Quebec, Canada. Perce-Neige is the first round of the Canadian Association of Rallysport's 2004 championship. The thong will be awarded to the team whose car looks the most like a snowball at any point in the event. As usual, the judging is very subjective and subject to change.
The Triple Caution Thong, a skimpy undergarment with the Triple Caution symbol on the front and LDR team logo on the back, is awarded to a team(s) entered in performance rally events that Last Ditch Racing attends. The Triple Caution symbol has been used in rallying to indicate a severe hazard that, if ignored, could lead to severe injury.
2003 saw thongs awarded across the US and Canada, and team owner/driver John Cassidy says he's planning on being to thongs what Johnny Appleseed was to apples.
Said Cassidy, "In every event we've presented a thong, people have driven harder, jumped further, gotten more sideways, and even crashed more spectacularly." The criteria for winning the thong is very subjective and an ever-moving elusive target from event to event.
"We've had requests to attend certain events just so people can have the opportunity to win the thong," said Cassidy. "People smile when they win the thong or see the thong. Actually, people smile just thinking about it! That's really the point-we want people to have fun in the sport and have the opportunity to take home a trophy that is very special indeed." said Cassidy.
