A write up from Phil:
The inaugural Formula RallyX (FRX) event at Glen Helen turned out to be a very unusual one - the first rainy rallyx that SoCal has seen for a number of years. The conditions, especially in the morning, were appalling - driving rain and a slippery mudbath for a course; not the ideal conditions for the 2WD street tire classes that had to run during that time! With four runs per driver (two each way), nobody got stuck (although a few came close on the uphill slope) and we even had the unusual sight of a Lexus taking to the mud. All the 4WD classes ran together as daylight was fast running out, and with the course drying it was possible to get everyone their allotted runs before dusk.
Despite (or possibly because of?) the weather, there was a strong turnout and a lot of new faces, which was great to see. Mike's technical, varied course received plenty of compliments, and everyone seemed to be having a good time. The weather caused some issues with supplying the results immediately, but the superb 'behind the scenes' team was keeping track and they're available at http://www.formularallyx.com/
So the Formula RallyX series is off to a spectacular start. The next CRS rallyx event is at Ridgecrest on Sunday March 4, and the next FRX event is Glen Helen 2 on Sunday April 4.

At last glance, we have 54 entries for CSCC RallyXI, only 6 spots left. With another event planned for the following weekend. Both will be counted for a points series in Northern California, along with FRX events in Antioch and Vallejo. After the big Hangtown MX race at Prairie City, we will be adding dates for this year, with unlimted potential growth for next year.

If you are in SoCal, sign up for GH. If you are in NorCal, sign up for the 6 spots left at Prairie City. Everybody gets to play!
Actually we might be down to 2 spots open for April 29th, but not to worry, there are plenty of spots open for May 6th. First to events for the series this year, next will be june 24th I believe, in Antioch, then end of July in Vallejo. More to come in Sacramento area after Hangtown MX race at Prairie City.
Believe me, it's gonna be a blast.

Does anyone know what kind of surface prepping is done at these courses? Specifically at the upcoming Antioch event? I'm curious, cause I went by there today thinking it would be broken up dirt like in the above pics, but instead, it looks very hard with lots of rocks, and short, dead grass. Does the track just need to get "broken in" by a few runs, or what? This will be my first time, so I'm trying to figure out what to expect.
TIA
