Vehicle Photography Thread tips and sharing

this is a thread for sharing tips and just posting your vehicle photography

the whole thing with vehicle photography is its hard to find differnt ways to find angles w/o each shoot looking the same just differnt car so heres some tips bare with me im no pro but heres some helpful tips

ONE REMINDER

good photography is not measured by what equipment the photographer uses, but rather, the composition, subject, and technique of the picture. for you first timers that are interested in photography PLEASE dont think its all camera you can pull off nice pictures with any camera, same goes for EXPENSIVE cameras you can pull off CRAP pictures with GOOD cameras, photography has and always has been your eye the camera does nothing but what YOU TELL IT TO DO

1. bring a step ladder you can get cool high shots for example, i just started bringing a step ladder on my last shoot and it really helps with getting differnt angles

2. try and get differnt angles of vehicles dont just go for the straight on/side shot try and get low with it and show the vehicle ON ITS LEVEL

3. if you have another car try some rolling shots this will add a nice variety betwen ur shots i like to end my shoots with rolling shots, shoot at the basic speed of the car and see if you can hand hold the shot w/o blur usually i shoot at 1/60 or below

4. DETAILS DETAILS, zoom in on those details

5. Lastly just spend time with the subject and look around take your time!, usually i spend just 20min looking around the car/background

6. last but not least just have fun!

SIGH

good photography is not measured by what equipment the photographer uses, but rather, the composition, subject, and technique of the picture.

while POINT AND SHOOTS are limited like in rolling shots(becuase some dont have manual controls to do shutter speed) you can get good results with any camera its all on the PHOTOGRAPHER the camera is just 1 part of it

the rest is all up to you

setting up exposure
setting up composition
post processing

all the camera does is take the picture you do everything including telling the camera what to do

The main thing is knowing your camera (more of a photography in general theory, not car specific).

If you look at my photos from the beginning, you can see how I started to learn how to use the camera/take advantage of the settings

Totally agree with the iclub photographer Moderator God!! Oh yeah, lovin those pics of the Audi, Ferrari's, and Aston Martin's that were shot at the track...dopeness sir!! Oh yeah, my contact is w.rivera/WAR on flickr since my names on both sites are different.

On a side note, thats a really good idea to bring a step stool of some sort. Never thought of that. WIll make a mental note of that. Other than that, when my friends and I(Papparazi crew) go out to do some photo ops, we shoot in awkwards positions.. BENDING over, lying on the ground, etc, etc.

I'm telling you if you were taking pictures with the camera i have you would not be saying the same thing. i know for a fact equipment has something to do with it rather how small of an impact it could/couldnt be it does have soemthing to do with it.

I was scrolling and saw those and went "ooh, hey, a mini! Wait a minute....."

One of the things I HATE when doing car photography, is that my silver car reflects the colors of its surroundings! By the ocean, it has a blue-ish tint, in the dirt a brownish tint....something to keep in mind. Not sure how to avoid it, so I guess something just to expect
