Nikon D2H?? Worth it or obsolete?

Gotta chance to pick up a Nikon D2H for $500, and wanted to see what you guys thought about it. I know the camera is a good 5-6yrs old but I was looking to get something for shooting motorsports and sports. Current owner isn't exactly sure on the shutter count but he is the second owner of the camera. I'd be getting the D2H body, 2 batteries, charger, and neck strap. Is the D2H too old for todays standards or would it still work great for me? I currently have a D90. Thanks.

Its a real nice camera if you need a super fast set-up. Its great for sports photojournalists or anyone who needs a fast motor drive. The 4.1 mp is pretty low for todays standards (6 mp is pretty much the standard for publications) but will deffinately be just fine for posting to the web, etc. I have a old Nikon D1 body (3.2 mp) that really takes great pictures if your just posting to the web, and just like the d2h its a tank and really well built. But on the other side of things you can get a D200 (10.2 mp, also really well built) for about the same price as the D2H your looking at so it might be something to look into. Hell even d2x's are coming down in price.

Thanks SR20steve. I haven't really printed anything yet, so my basic form of publication is posting on the web. I noticed the D2H doesn't shoot in RAW. Do the DSLR's at that level just not shoot in RAW or is it this specific models fall back? I actually found a place that has the D200 brand new for $550, so now I'm really unsure which one I want hahaha. Is the D2X really that much better than the D2H and would be worth either picking up now for a little bit more or waiting for it to go down in price even more?

I've been using my brother's old D2H for a couple of years now and am happy with it even though I haven't used it to it's full potential. I've been using it mostly for motorsports.
I'm sure JZ007 will chime in too.

I thought all of Nikons DSLR's shoot in RAW, I could be mistaken though. JPEG High is really good if you just want to publish to the web (hell even if you want to publish, the compression is un-noticeable). But as far as the D200, its the bargain of the century. Its got the nice metal body, high flash sync, fast top shutter, good motor drive. I really like this one. The D2x is a 100 times better than the D2h, (but about 3 times the price) its 12.4 mp compared to 4.1 mp, it shoots extremely fast like the D2h (also fast flash sync and top shutter).

For my money, I'd go with the D2x. Its a camera that your not gonna out grow in a year because technology has lapsed. And when 35mm was around the quality of film didn't change just the bells and whistles. But now we are actually changing the quality of the image with advances in technology, and at 12.4 mp thats waaaay better quality than you would need to do awesome poster size prints (let alone publish images).

You got any ?'s let me know, Steve

Thanks 2cam16 and the additional info Steve. I think I'll probably hunt down a D2X, unless an un-passable D200 deal comes up. I could be wrong about the D2H not shooting in RAW, because I thought all DSLR's could shoot in RAW. But I was looking over the specs on dpreview.com and didn't see it listed in the file formats.

Now just a curiosity question, say I pick up a D2X and went to a car show like Hot Import Nights or whatever where the cars are stationery. How would the D2X do? Since its made for sporting events, motorsports and photojournalists would it still excel at still-life?
