I like photography :)
I guess thats the difference between us. While I wouldn't do the M&M shot just for fun, as a graphic designer I can definitely see it's marketing potential. Now, things like close ups of bugs I find pointless for anything beyond the exercise of fundamentals.
And I have no desire to do weddings either. I would much rather work with hot models for commercial stuff than *****y brides and bridesmaids (already have to do that with my other job).

Pretty much I want to work with professionals
I do fine under pressure but why put myself there?
Portland was actually editorial
You were there too?!! Did you get a poster?
Yeah that's true. My mom was telling me a friend of hers was getting a wedding package from Scott Campbell here in Monterey and it was about 10k for one wedding
He does 1-2 weddings every week and he's completely booked for the next few months.
That's a really amazing shot. I suck at landscapes so I never try

Ugh. So I sent in my HVL-F58 flash because it had a shakey connection. Sony send me a brand new flash unit which seems to be making NO connection :|

I probably won't get the a77. I'll see what 2012 brings.

I was just messing around in photoshop with a picture of my gf. I removed the bags under her eyes with the patch tool but it still looks a bit off. I also made a surface blur mask and worked with that to make the skin a bit softer. Too much? Should I use a lower opacity?

Did you use the eye whitening action on this one? That is another one to make sure you use a soft brush, and adjust the opacity as needed.

LOVE this guy! I've watched a couple of his intro clips (for this class and the other one on creativelive.com) and read some of his blogs. Seems like a super cool, laid back but straight forward guy. I can't wait to buy the whole class!

Doesn't look like it is too much softening IMHO. Just make sure to use a softer brush for stuff like that and keep it off of the lips, teeth, hair, eyes (including eyelashes), eyebrows, nostrils, and any jewelry or piercings. I also usually use a lower opacity of softening on the ears. I'll usually brush it on at 100%, and then go and remove it with a 30% opacity brush (leaving 70%).

I really hope they are able to expand their catalog in 2012, and I hope they can add more in the graphic design department rather than just application tutorial.
