I was reading about slow sync flash shots and creating blur in the background yesterday, nikon do you have any examples of this?

i have to look for examples on that. what i was talking about though is a bit different. you can set the camera on a tripod shooting as if there is no flash at all. so the camera would capture the scene in full with available light as we have seen before in night photography. the use of the flash in slow sync helps directing a flash light at one object you want like the car and give it more emphasis. someitmes you don't even need to use a flash, you can use a strobe line or anything and create some amazing shots.

i will dig into my HD and find out what i have. i really have over 200k images i have taken so it will be a while.

i believe slow sync is when the strobe fires right when the shutter opens. rear curtain fires the strobe right before the shutter closes. they both give a similar effect.

And just when are you coming out here to show me how to do that? Oh, that would require me to have a remote flash, right? I was a solid 25 meters away from the car on a tripod when that was taken, so I figured that my little flash (built in) wouldn't do much for me.

Thanks, Kyle. Yeah, I have to fix that lid. I've read it's an easy bend-it.

i am always open to doing a photo day. not necessarily a long drive, meet, and shoot. just photography day where we go to a couple of locations and do some photography talk and shoot. small group is better. so anyone can come.
