:RockOn - not mine:
got more pictures up on Flickr (click on my username and then "blah blah blah homepage!"), I think 7 out of 9 are of the car (that 9 including the fallout shelter)
I'll post the car pictures in a new thread tomorrow, now its time for sleep

for #2 you only need to match the lowest number. so if R is the lowest of the three, you adjust G and B so the value will match R.
ah this should be better. i was in a hurry explaining earlier. in levels, to get to the colour channels just click on the RGB. or ctrl + 1 = red, ctrl + 2 = green, ctrl + 3 = blue.
for #1 you only need to match whatever the highest number is for R G and B. if G is the highest, then you adjust so the R and B is the same value as G. say B is the highest, you adjust R and G.
for #2 you only need to match the lowest number. so if R is the lowest of the three, you adjust G and B so the value will match R.

Car Info: this required information?
Not a photographer, but last nights sky was really pretty cool at around 1030pm. It was really bright, and had cool clouds.
Camera is a basic Rebel XT that I just got, on noob settings with a slow shutter. Picture is unedited as I don't have photoshop.

so say #1 is:
R: 135/135
B: 201/201
B: 174/174
you need to adjust the R and B to 201

okay, i had to re-read this one for it to make sense to me... let me try again...

So since the WB was the same for this set of pictures and relatively the same location. Can I use the same level setting for all the pics? (so I don't have to painfully re-do every pic) Thanks again JZ, I learned a lot from this/you, as usual.

are you ready? if SubyN00by hasn't got back to you, this should help. and since this thread is kinda a tutorial i'll post the steps here as well.
in PS, go to window and open the info window
in the tools bar select color sampler tool (that's the one in the eyedropper, just click and hold and move to the color sampler)
set sample size (top left) to 5 by 5 average
on the photo click on where you assume is white
then click on where you assume is black
you should have 2 targets on the photo now
open levels, image>adjustments>level
now look at your info box at RGB #1 and RGB #2
it should read something like RGB #1 R:133/133 G:183/183 B:235/235 (these #s are only example, you'll get different values)
now on the levels go to red channel and drag the right arrow on the input value to the left until the number on the info for the R: matches the highest number on the #1, so in my case i have to set the red input level to 144 so the R on #1 matches 235, and G input would be 198, leave B alone since that's the highest value
now you have to do the opposite for #2, it's just that you have to use the lowest value. my sample reads on the info window #2 R:7/7 G:9/9 B:14/14
so that means i gotta drag the left arrow on the blue channel over to the right until the number matches 7. same for G.
this should get you in the ball park. from there you can make more adjustments if you feel needed. it's pretty confusing, easier if i was sitting there showing you.

Anyone notice the moon has been way brighter? ever since the eclipse probably because it has more direct sunlight on it?

some needed more.
So I just went to Keeble & Shuchat (I am sure I spelled that wrong) and rented a 70-200 f/2.8 for the weekend. Pretty cool, sat to mon is charged as 1.5 days. While I was there, some guy was picking up one of those 600mm beasts. Just nutty.
sure, send them to me... I got lazy too... after playing around with it and got a hang of it. I just went with auto level and adjusted the RGB direct to fix the brightness, that's it... It took me more time to fix this photos than the service itself.
