Washington emissions?
Washington emissions?
I was wondering how strict the emissions were in Wash., since I am coming from Cali. and getting my TXS stealthback pretty soon, I was contemplating whether or not to get the catted version or not.
any and all help is appreciated,
thanks.

It depends on the area which you would live in Washington. Seattle and surrounding area you need to have emissions test.
Some areas don't have any testing.
Right now the test would not pass without at least one cat. They do look under the hood and under the car for modifications if something looks modified, I have seen it happen. They can mark your car for a manditory state vehical inspection if they find any pollution control systems modified or tampered with. Soon they are suposed to switch to the test that connects to your ECU and if it gets any error codes you automatically fail.

I just went through emissions here in the Redmond one (RandyF's backyard) and they did not look under the vehicle or under the hood. They test your gas cap for leakage/vapor pass an they hook up the computer to see if you are throwing any codes for emmisions. The People doing the tests are not experts in cars but just know how to run the equipement for the test.
They don't hook up to your exhaust and they don't measure sound.
But RandyF is right...get a cat and be nice to our air.

If you've got a car that uses ODBII, they just plug into your post and see if you're throwing codes. If you don't, you pass.
A guy I know has a Camaro SS, and he has a cam, heads, headers, exhaust, no cats... he passed no problems. If you've got a ODBII car, I wouldn't be too worried about it if you're not throwing codes.
