Taste of Subaru II (Official)

Hello Everyone!

Well, here is the scoop one what I have so far. It has now come to a point where I "really" need your input (a "vote" you might say). This is what we have so far...

Portland International Raceway is reserved for October 25th and 26th (Saturday & Sunday). However, it is very costly to run the track on a weekend, let alone for two days. I'm doing what I can to have Autosport/Campbell Productions run it again this year since I felt that they did a very good job according to the feedback that I got from the participants last year. Question is, do we run the track both days, just Saturday or just Sunday? Next, if we have it both days, do you really think that we can generate enough money for the event to happen? To be honest, I don't want to walk away from this event with money taken away from me or the club and also I do NOT want to make a profit. I would like to see all the money go toward the event. So if you respond to this thread, please keep in mind that we "need" to break even!

As far as cost goes, it sounds like everyone is willing to pay around the $100 range. I will do what I can to keep it close to that. Obviously, the more people that we have the more likely we'll have a successful event. So email me if you "really" plan to attend the event and participate in the Track Day. You can email me at: bernie@specclub.com

The car show will also be charged a fee that I have not figured out yet. I'm not shooting for anything outrageously expensive.

Vendors will also need to pay a fee to display products.

So this is basically what I have now. Feedback and ideas are welcome. Right now there are no promises made. However, if we are going to pull this event off, then we needed to start planning two months ago (if you get my drift... I said "drift" )

Thanks,

Berns

Ouch!

Last year was a ton of fun, even as one day. It was great that the rallyx was on the day prior, it fit perfectly.
Question is, do we run the track both days, just Saturday or just Sunday?
Neither, on that weekend. Aren't you gunna be co-driving for Doug at mt. hood??

This is for track usage correct? Getting in free seemed very appropriate for those not running on the track and not competing in the car show. Is Subaru Western Region kicking down anything for this at all? I thought the original intent of TOS 1 was Subaru showing their appreciation for us as current customers, owners, and a chance for some great publicity! Is this not correct? If it is correct, how are they assisting us this year?

Thanks,
You know i'm in buddy, as long as it's not rally weekend! I could name off quite a few vendors we'd be missing if it were on a rally weekend.

-Jason

PS: Would be nice to see this earlier in the year for TOS 3.

Well... it's official... Taste of Subaru II is NOT going to happen. After doing as much as I could to save it, there was little support (financially) to make a successful and safe event. After much evaluation, it has come to the conclusion that if we have this event, it would be a less safe event, with less activities. It would be a bomb and would take a big recovery to keep it going for the following years. With little over a month-and-a-half to go it gives too little time to make a successful event. Trust me, I'm as much disappointed as all of you (combined).

The good news is that we (SPEC and Subaru of America) are planning for next year and that it will hopefully be bigger than last year... much bigger.

Again I appologize for not making this happen this year.

email me if you have any questions...

Take Care,

Bernie
