i recently talked to a person about SCCA events. i was wondering what they are really like. are there tons and tons of people there? if you dont "race" do you still pay an entrance fee? are people pretty helpful and tolerant of newbies, or would i get laughed off the track? i have a really slow connection right now, so it takes FOREVER to load up websites. i was hoping that maybe you guys could explain this whole thing to me. any help would be appreciated.
I got involved with SCCA when I bought my WRX like a lot of others. I have tried both Rallycross and Solo ( Autocross) and
have found all officials extremely helpful and willing to explain
rules, and other confusing things like where in the hell is the
course is out there in the sea of cones. ( I got lost more than
once.) People were kinder to me than I was to myself.
The majority of the competition has been the same. Very
helpful and willing to share tricks like air pressure adjustments
;etc. All in all, you can't go wrong with this bunch. They are all
volunteers just like yourself and out for the same reason, fun. There are quite a few volunteers that just come out to help
because they enjoy the events and they are welcome to do
so without paying. They just need to sign a wavier for
insurance reasons and be prepped on their duties.
I don't like crowds, and I have yet to be to an event that
was too crowded for my tastes.

He pretty much covered everything.
Just go to www.wwscc.org and look for the next event. Park by all of the subarus and ask someone what to do.
