Post your absolute 'best road' ever. 'Kiss & Tell Only'!
This is a 'cough it up and show it' road thread. List/show the road that you you would place in the top three roads you have ever driven in the U.S!
Was reading a thread earlier today where someone 'googled' the road he shot on ~ what an idea! Let's see what we get?
Maryhill Loops Road:
I feel very fortunate to have not only found this road (for a bunch of ads/brochures for Audi) but to get the chance to drive it over the years. It had never been used on any commercials/ads before I was peeing over the 'overlook' and looked down and about s**t myself! You can see the pull out in the Google Earth where I was standing looking down!
This road was in the middle of a ranch with absolute perfect pavement and turns that looked like a cartoon road. There was a locked gate on each end of the road, with not a soul on it.
It is barely in the state of Washington (Columbia Gorge area near Biggs Junction). Although the road is gated from the public, it was the 1st paved highway in the NW and has been 'preserved' and repaved and is controlled by the Maryhill Museum.
The location fee is/was $5000/day! I have had the joy of driving dozens of cars on this road flat out. You know, 'closed circuit / professional driver'. It is I'd say about 2.5 miles long ~ would make the perfect driveway! I have never driven a better bunch of corners that were not on a racetrack!
Oh yeah, no guardrails, no run off. You goof, you goof BIG!

No, Loops Road is available as a commercial location only @ a $5K a day price tag ~ but, if you are ever in the area, it's worth checking out from the 'pull-out' above, off the highway. It will blow your mind!

Whoa!! It might be worth the 5K to rent that road.
Right on Ace...all the roads you posted rock! I'll add another section that's one of my favorites in Yuba County. Hammonton-Smartville Road and HWY 20
Also, in Monterey County - Laureles Grade. Not surprisingly Laguna Seca Raceway is close by.

The road pictured above is a local SF bay area favorite, hardly NW material, I can't figure out why all these NorCal homies are posting to this thread?
As for NW roads I've got 4 words for ya:
The Road Not Taken

If you're in Southern OR, when things thaw out, try dropping across the border for fun in the Klamath Forest;

(2008 update should happen when Greg gets back- sometime after the Alcan Rally)

it's not reasonable and I would have to get a map of where I took my little drive but it's in the Olympia/Lacey area on Yelm Highway. When I get home, I will post up a map because it will blow your mind in the wee hours of the morn.
Another good one (unfortunately still not near Seattle), is the road I took to Duvall every Sunday. I drove my EF Honda through these backroads and gave my suspension a good thrashing. I haven't taken my Subaru on it but suffice to say, if the Yelm Highway route made me feel confident, the Duvall one will be pleasant.

I love going over to the fall city, redmond area, there are a lot of fun side roads, but I can't get a good view of the roads with google. but I enjoy
Ames lake rd, Old Issaqua redmond Rd, and there are a few others. and it's only about 20min from the seattle area.
