So I just moved to the beaverton area I understand I have to smog my car to register, so how do you guys get away with this? How is emmissions in Oregon? right now im catless and moving from California I have a 2005 so I dont have to smog in CA for another 7 years.

 

I don't remember doing emmisions on my car when it was registered in Oregon. I have heard that a couple areas have emmisions testing but I have lived in several areas of Oregon with no problems.

 

thx for the info, I called DMV and they said I gotta smog it because I was in a VIP area. and wow this forum is pretty dead..

 

Oregon smog is a joke, I freaked out and took all my aftermarket parts off. It was no big deal, NOTHING like cali smog checks...

I pulled up to the bay (no dyno)

the guy got my info

plugged a scanner into my OBD-II port

he had me turn the car on for about 2-3 minutes

signed the paperwor

paid the 50 some-odd dollars

and had my new tags!

I went to Medford to have my smog done (I was in the area visiting my dad anyways)...

The guy said you would basically pass as long as you weren't throwing a CEL

No sniffer test, no visual.

 

Above is true. ^^^ But being 'catless' they may catch (with or without throwing a cell). Here in Medford they WILL use a mirror if your car is loud or appears to have a modified exhaust (i.e. no cats).

But compared to Cali? You'll love it. I have NEVER seen an import with the hood up and a cop next to him. Just doesn't happen...

If you are throwing cells. Just erase the ECM right before you drive over... there will be no 'history' and if it does not have a check engine light, you got a 90% chance to pass. Just idle on up and hope for the best!
