I'm thinking about getting a 97/98 grand cherokee. I liked my 99 (except for the teething problems that came with the all-new-for-1999-except-300-little-pieces redesign).
I want a trail rig (truck's just too big) but I want something fairly comfortable.

 

My buddy has a 98 Grand Cher with the 5.7 liter V8. Silvery in color and leather abound. I can pass on your name when they decide to sell it in a few months.

 

5.2 or 5.9 are the only choices. 'Tis neither a Chebby nor a Hemi.

If it's a 5.9 it might be out of my price range, but the coolness factor of turning one of those into an off-roadster would be priceless (iirc it was the fastest production sport ute for a while).

 

While I'm on the subject... I'm parting the aftermarket stuff out now. I've gotta get to bed but I'll copy/paste the list from that other site later.


Basically I've got:
borla gen4 header, coupe wing, kartboy shifter, [sti strut mounts, v5 struts, spt springs, 20mm rear sway bar], snow tires, yakima rack, etc.

 

Oops, I meant to say 5.9 liters. My Boat is the 5.7.

 

That's what I figured. It would be doubly cool to have (essentially) the same engine in my truck and jeep. Magnum vs non-magnum, fuelie versus carb... Ooh. Sorry. The Jeep isn't a "Magnum" because that's a Dodge thing (but it's the same motor).
