is there any relation to you putting that tape across your headlights,
and pictures of impreza's in jdm mag's putting tape across thier headlights/fogs?
probably not, but i always wondered why they do that.

Its a common thing to do when you track your car at the road course/autox. It prevents flying debris from shattering your headlights and foglights.
