White on gold rocks

About two years ago I was picking up some parts for my project 240 when I saw a white WRX with gold rims in the parking lot. I guess you could say it was love at first sight. Within a few months picked up one of my own--a 03 Aspen white WRX. The first two things I got were some 18x8.5 gold SSR comps and a set of Tanabe Sustec Pro SS coilovers. I went to my first SCCA test and tune and I learned that 225-18-40's don't have enough sidewall for the track OR the street. Later when a track day came up I borrowed a set of STi wheels with factory RE070's on them. Much better! Of course I learned that brakes are a must for track days, so I decided to go with some stoptechs. (sorry about image quality )

I ended up trading my 18's for 17x8.5 gold SSR comps. I continued to use the 225/18/45 RE070's on these wheels, but having them streched over the 8.5" wide rims seemed to have resulted in a loss of lateral grip. Oh well. We'll address this later. To finish off the footwork, I got a white line rear sway bar with kartboy endlinks, and a set of white line steering rack bushings. This thing is getting funner to drive! Now it was time to work on power. I had already done a up-pipe and turbo back, but it was time to move on to a "stage 4". I ended up with a TurboXS FMIC and UTEC, a Greddy 18g, STi pinks, and all of the odds and ends. I wanted to go with a cleaner look, so I picked up a FRP kaminari hood and painted it to match. A local tuner mag thought it lookd cool too, so I got a photo shoot.

I was maxing out the injectors, so I modded my FPR and got a TurboXS "tuna". I also ordered a STi type RA gearset, and started hunting down an EJ25 short block and looking at head and headwork options...
That was about a month ago. Since then I have totally parted out my car... In favor of an 05 STi. wOOt! I have yet to pick one up, but I have driven it, and I love it. As soon as I sell the 03 I will continue here with my project STi. I can't wait!
