Cool Updated photos of my 2004 Bugeye converted STI

I Ditched the APS FMIC and replaced it with a Process West FMIC:

(^Also added a Process West Oil Cooler and wrapped the cold side pipes to help keep the air cooler.)

Feels like a lot less boost lag now and the oil temp is a good 20F lower on average.

Added some Defi gauges:

And an exterior shot:

A bit too flashy for my taste but sweet set up and those Defi gauges look tremendous with your STi gauge cluster. How did you get your digital clock to be orange?

It may be flashy, but it's ALL functional. I used a glass dye on the inside glass of the clock.

its extreme, but I think it looks good. If it was painted ricer srt-4 green then it'd be too extreme. but the black keeps it tame enough

btw....srt-4 = neon for anyone that didnt get that

Headlights don't make the car go faster nor handle better... I had those headlights left over from when I used to own a 2002. That and I believe the later model STI in japan came with non-projector headlights...

See, from Japan :

But after I build up the internals and a bigger turbo I might add projectors.

Where does the temp. gauge needle sit with having the intercooler and oil cooler in front of the radiator?

Water temp on a 94+ Fahrenheit day here in Austin TX(w/ some humidity) and my water temp is around 175-180F(I have a gauge, more accurate than a needle...). My oil temp at the same time varies between 165F and 180F. My intake manifold at the same time is 95-100F. The varied temps depend on my speed, between 35-65mph(the temperatures are cooler when the car is moving faster). Oh, but for coolant I'm running a bottle of water wetter, less than a gallon of coolant(ethylglycol?) and the rest is distilled water. Ooh and if I hit the intercooler sprayer which I've routed to the FMIC the intake manifold drops down to(even a degree below sometimes) the outside temp shown on the STI cluster.

All of these temperatures are better than stock as far as I've seen logged.

How did you mount it like that?

I am having the HARDEST time deciding where to mount it... I want to mount it like you did but my entire dash is carbon fiber... so I don't really want to cover it..lol

I hardwired the power line into the ignition instead of using their supplied cigarette lighter power adapter and just used 3M tape to mount the gauge. Didn't have to cut/grind the console face at all so if I ever decide to move it then nothing is damaged. The wires just run back behind the dash down to the OBDII plug under the steering wheel(out of the way and hidden).

I got a True//Flow foam intake filter today so here's an updated under the hood shot which also shows the custom intake heat shielding I fabricated last week:

(I also added a cheap ebay oil catch tank and modified it to use as the Radiator overflow tank)

The throttle seems a bit more responsive w/ the new foam filter compared to the old fabric cone too .

It is bold but not overly done. Quick noob question though since I never owned a FMIC is it bad to paint it black because of heatsoak? Personally I think it would be a little less dramatic if it was.

Thanks for the info. I am assuming the radiator is oem?
