Very nice to see USDM in other countries! Knowing how expensive cars can be in other countries...was it less expensive to get a USDM car and ship it vs. buying an other-world version locally?

Yes, there are more USDMs in Russia, for example, in Moscow. USDM costs more than JDM.
JDM costs $44000 - $49000, depends on, DCCD, 49 - with it.
USDM costs $55500 + shipping to Samara 1500, so $57000. But, it's a great car, it goes for it's price. I'm very glad.
But, the main plus - is, that nowbody knows, that your STI is USDM and under the hood is 300 hp in stock, do you understand me

.In Moscow we already have perfomance packs for 2.5l version. So you can go there and hook your USDM STI up. But, than after tuning chip, I can have more problems here in Samara - we' ve got no specialists here for USDM chips, only for JDM. tell you truth, I don't respect them, and if I had JDM I wouldn't give them my car to tune the chip, or so... So my perspective, if something wrong with the car - going to Moscow... And it' s 1000 miles to get there. I don't want it. I'll be riding my stock USDM Subaru. That's why I bought USDM Sti instead of JDM. More capacity, more power in stock.

^^^Why don't you do the Cobb Accessport then?
It's a safe tune and you can download maps from the net rather than have some dude tune it that you don't trust.
Being out there...it might be your best bet.

Tremendous!
I'm curious, though. I swing to the left and right on the nuts of anything Subaru, but my perspective is of a highly regulated (emissions and crash testing wise, I guess) American.
I don't know where my fandom would lie if more Japanese cars were available here.
Why did you opt for the Impreza vs. Honda, Nissan, Toyota....
Beautiful car, though.
