i've been playing with fotoshop for several years, that canvas looks pretty nice. did you do anything else like adjust the contrast on it? how about running a slight watercolor on the scene first, then applying the canvas. try this: (or play on your own)
1st make a copy of the background and put the copy on it's own layer
2nd run the watercolor on the background, but not as much as you did in the example above.
3rd run the canvas on the copied layer and overlay it, darken, or some other blending mode.
4th play with the opacity of the layers.
hate to say this, but without the car in the picture, that actuallly looks like a pretty awesome photo of a back alley/warehouse.
