My projects

To start off with, I have my 2002 WRX wagon. I'll only post links to pics.

Anyhow, when I bought it, I never had the intention of modifying it one bit. As a stock car, it was the most I'd ever driven wrt power and handling. The most powerful previous was my 215hp 1989 Mustang 5.0 LX, which was smoking back then (I bought it new, but shortly totaled it while practicing my DUI skills. At least I can thank it for helping me quit drinking.)

Unfortunately, a whole mess of factors ended up pushing me towards my mania. Subaru was kind enough to influence me by providing a free year membership into the SCCA and their endorsement of a cool website called i-club.com No seriously. Also, after checking out the i-club for a while, I figured out that my neighbor was a WRX owner named Mach5WRX. He explained to me how cars work and how it's critical to improve the car's ability to 'suck and blow'. That made me decide to buy an AEM CAI and a Greddy EVO catback w/PDE downpipe.

Since then it's been a wild ride.

In no particular order of purchase and install...
Tein Flex w/ EDFC
Whiteline adjustable rear sway bar and lateral links
Whiteline anti-lift kit
Kartboy endlinks
17" Rota Subzeros w/ Yokahama AVS 215/45/17 (nice but slim. They came with the car.)
UTEC (installed in Oct 2002)
Tuna
hacked stock injectors
Walbro
EJ257 block
JDM v7 STi 6mt w/o DCCD
FP Green
Greddy r-spec FMIC
Morette headlights
Autometer EGT, Apexi boost gauges
a "You just got beat by a wagon" magnet
illegal tint
Things to be installed are:
JDM STi v7 heads & cams (avcs will be disabled)
Fujitsubo 4-2-1 header
Turboxs bellmouth dp
Exedy Hypersingle (once I find a replacement clutchdisk)
Quirt Crawford low compression CP pistons (this is why it's down for the count right now, although the engine is almost out from the car. Had to stop due to the holiday travelling.)
pics: 1, 2, 3, 4. Mach5 (Dan, not the vendor) sold his WRX. That's his STi parked beside my wagon.

Anyhow, project number 2 hasn't began yet. It's a 1990 Loyale part-time 4wd. Plans are to see if I can't swap out it's entire drivetrain and powerplant. It will also need some body work. I've got most of the remnants of what I've taken out of my WRX, except that the tranny is in a whole bunch of little pieces, the differentials and half-shafts are still on the WRX, and I've sold the suspension.

Also, the clutch is shot, so I've got a direct OEM replacement enroute any day.
pics: 1, 2.

In the meantime, since I have nothing driveable right now, I'm half-assed shopping for a '98 RS or a 325ix.

Thanks much, Ralph. The same to you and yours. Lightweight and one-size-fits-all is the ticket, huh?

Road racing mainly, hopefully. I think I'd love to do rally, but on someone else's dime. In road racing, if I get good, there's a good chance I won't hit anyone beyond scraping. In rally, you're gonna hit something repeatedly everytime....the ground.
