so are you saying that as long as its functional its not rice. i guess giant spoilers arent rice then. there is such a thing as going overboard, such as with those vents.
if you post pictures, you should expect and be able to take a little criticism.

I think the term rice has gotten a little overboard. Something look pretty crappy but when people use the term rice now a days its for almost everything. Like that post about the phatest sl55 ever, some guy said that the lambo doors and chroms rims were rice. I fail to see how a $1500 dorr kit and a nice set of good looking chroms rims were rice. I think that expression is getting a little bit old. sorry guys, just getting sick of this rice crap. Some guy on a chat room said my STi spolier was rice. The STi spoiler is big, but it looks good with the car and is what the rally cars have and is funtional.

The track will be open in two weeks, he'll have some new slips then.
I can take criticism, but not when it makes no sense.
I do not consider the vents in the hood to be rice. Yes, you may not like them. Yes, you may not see any need for them. They are there so that the air coming in from the front of the car has somewhere to go other than whirl around in the engine bay. Air, like most other things, takes the path of least resistance. The less resistance you have, the more air you can get through your front mount and your radiator.
Are the hood vents on the older Imprezas rice? I mean, they ARE vents and they ARE on the hood.
Why do all newer WRXs (except wagons) come with wide body style fenders? I'm not going to go rallying or autocrossing any time soon. Is that rice?
A spoiler can be considered "rice".
Here is a perfect example:

That wing is very functional on a top fuel drag car, but on this Civic it is rice.
If the hood vents were on a Geo Metro, then yes I would consider them rice. But they are not, they are a functional part of this car.
All I am saying is that if it is functional to the application then it should not be considered rice.

I am the owner of the white sti my name is eric and nick is a good friend of mine. I really don't see the problem with the hood. I am sponsored by seibon international and they gave me the hood and the trunk for free. We built this car to kick *** on the street and strip. I really don't see the problem with the vents and I would bet that 99.99% of the people on this forum would put the hood on their car if it was carbon and free.Peace in the middle east Eric
I never said it was rice, I think its ugly functional or not. Its not the vents i dislike its the scoop. As you can tell im not a fan of the direction subaru styling is going in. Im free to express my own opinion. Its just criticism, im glad you can take it better than most people. I drive a 01 rs by the way.

hi superflysti
your car is very nice, really. i like it. my car has a similar "size" turbo as yours. A few questions, 465 hps is a lot for this car, when your car goes fast, does it shake a bit? looks like 225 tires are not enough to hold this car if you go for high speed on the highway. another thing is, for this much horse power, the stock piston is very easy to be melted if you kick it too much on high speed. forged piston is really recommended. also, if you feel too much turbo lag, Hi cam would be a good solution. hope you enjoy your ride, and make the engine stable, cause it is a really sweet car. love it. here is my car, EJ25 with TD06 turbo, boost at 1.4kg/cm2.

that hood is terrible. no matter how fast you are it doesnt mean that you can get away with looking like an extra off 2 fast 2 furious.
so are you saying all wrx's with scoops look like the fast and the furious.

Hmmm I think the hood stands out so much cause the mesh in the vents does not flow with the color scheme of the car. The white of the car, bronze, black then that mesh.... it just sticks out like a sore thumb. I think if you did something about that mesh I would think it would look a lot better. It really doesnt matter what I think though since its not my car, I could not afford that car, and I dont have sponsers either.
I think its a great looking car besides the mesh and would drive it any day of the week
GREAT JOB
BTW I would leave the yellow air filter..... to much of one color is not always a good thing.

Thanks for the complament black x its nice to no that there are people out there who don't talk crap on the forum about peoples cars. It is the people who wish they could have a nice cas that pick out the little things on the car and talk crap. These vents don't make or break the car. So people need to get off of it. Its like people are beating a dead horse.

What rpm does the greddy turbo spool at?
