My 03
Hey guys my name is Mike and I am the owner of this 2003 WRX. I have the car now for a little over a year and it has been a joy and a pain. But I wouldn't trade it for the world.
I bought the car off of Nasioc June 2010. Fly down to LA to pick it up. I fell in love the moment I saw the car. I had the guy pick me up at the airport and a short time later I was the new owner. Drove it home that night and it ran great!! Did some nice pulls on I5 and man was it a rocket. I had to take it easy though because I got it with 117k on the clock and the timing belt had yet to be done.
The next day I went to leave My house and the check engine light came on.****!!! pulled the code and it was a p0172(I think) it is the running to rich code. Got together with some buddies and we all thought because it was cattless and it was in the middle of the 100+ weather that the computer was just over doing it. Then I noticed that at a stop the idle would bounce around. Did some research and checked all the vacuum lines, cleaned the MAF and even cleaned the idle control valve. and everything helped a little but it never went away.
Knowing that the timing belt need to be done and I wanted to have the ce and the idle issue checked, I started saving my money to have the job done. I know some people over at Autowest Subaru so that's where it was going to go. Plus they were going to hook me up on the price. I dropped it off one morning and about a couple of hours later I got the phone call.......The tech had thought maybe my valves need to be adjusted, turns out that both of my heads had MAJOR cracking. So I had them stop and I called Paul over at DB tuned. he told me to bring it by and we could talk.
After talking to Paul and going over options I decided just to pull the trigger and put a motor in the car(If you guys go over to DB tuned I'm sure you saw my car there for about two months, and I'm sure paul should off my cracked heads)
Now i have th car back and running great!! I have put 4500 mile on the new motor(LA and back plus a Fort Bragg trip) I do have a few Thing I still need to due though. I have a leaking power steering rack that I am replacing with a 07 sti one!! also while I'm in there I'm going to install some whiteline power steering rack bushings adn whiteline front endlinks. I also have a Prodrive replica lip on the way. I just got my s204 lip to go under that.
