What to do on a Lazy Labor day?

How about making some Fender Cowl braces!

WOW, they look great. How thick is the bar and end pieces?

 

bar is 3/4"X1.5" wall thickness of 3/32"

plates are 3/16" thickness

all are 1020 cold roled steel

 

plenty sturdy. Now all you have to do is make a set for me.

 

I'm gonna have to learn how to weld. Where is the auto-x at?
