The entire door panels comes off in one piece after you remove the window controls. Both speakers are easily accessible, though I haven't seen too many people actively looking to replace the tweeters. Watch out if you go aftermarket on the larger speakers, you generally need to find or make up some spacers.
i recently bought a complete audio system (new sub, amp, component set, and coxials) for my civic, but it took 20 days before i got them, and in that time i decided i wanted something else, so im trying to figure out what i can salvage for the new car, cuz i know 6.5s wont fit in the back doors, but they will in the front, with a spacer (from what ive read, the upgraded sound has 6.5s)
thanks for all the help

There is quite a lot to do the new subaru's in terms of audio. I am only about halfway or so done with mine, but it definately cranks out the music. I found the stock tweeter locations to bring the voices down too much around chest level so i put them up in the A pillars and had crossovers made for them to bring down output a little. They are the tweeter seperates off the MTX 6.5" speakers in the front doors. I did have to go with a spacer and definately watch out for mounting depth since it will prove to be a problem. I had some wood kickpanels made and carpeted which a home to a pair of Boston Acoustic 6.5" Rally seperates. Behind the kick panels is sound deadening pillow stuffing basically. Be prepared to completely remove the dead pedal on the driver side when going this route. I also removed the center clock with a top of the line MB Quart co-axial to give more to the center channel. In the back doors I had them modified to accept a pair of Boston Acousitc 5.25" co-axials and a pair of MTX 5.25" sepeartes in the package tray. Overall I can say this system has a TON of midbass and does overpower the sub because there is so much. I have a MTX amp running stereo to power all the speakers in the car except the sub. I have a separate amp to power the Boston Pro Series 10" sub. I definately can say the sub is not enough to keep up with all the midbass but does really well. There is a lot of options to do with this car. Next mods are definate re-do the bottom half of front doors and wrap with vinyl so each door accepts three 6.5" drivers. And the back doors will have the same thing but to accept two 5.25" drivers in each door. Lots of things to do with some imagination. Best of luck to you. I might post some pics of it all on here if I get the time to.
