I think the next step is intervention!!
I got the fiberglass race body for my bike today, as well as the 8 point role cage for my Subaru. After finding a hole for all the stuff in my garage I realized that there is a good possibility that there is going to be an intervention in my future!
Lets see, there is a bit of every thing in these pics.

Here is one of the mostly done intirror side panels for the Subaru that I fiberglassed and grafted in a 6-1/2” speaker mount.

The pile of stuff that I have to primer and sand till its nice and smooth and paint it body color. Sitting on an old racing seat, next to the straight piping for my roll bar.

The doluck front bumper and side skirts, as well as the stock side skirts for my Subaru

Oh, yeah did I mention that I found the killer combo for the Subaru?
The euro front bumper, the c-west side skirts, doluck rear bumper, and v6 spoiler

The 8 point cage for the Subaru that I picked up from S&W racing for $240 shipped! I am very pleased with the quality of this product and can’t wait to get working on it. The good old trusty shop oven next to it with the door panel sitting a top!

Lets see here, where to start on this one.
The old red after market bumper I had on the Subaru.
Trusty Lincoln welder above that.
Yes that is a rear axle sitting up on end in the right corner. My ongoing 73 charger project. You can see the front of one of the fiberglass fenders waaaaay up at the top of the pic.
Ect. Ect. Ect.

The fiberglass race body I picked up for the SV650s!!
Also you can see the trusty “blue sucks” sticker on the old Subaru back bumper behind it, and that far back wall is filled with chrome trim for the charger.

I couldnt find any pics with an SV wering that kit. I have been working that back ferring though and it will look mean with that on it.
basically I am just going to fit-prep-and paint that rear ferring the stock color, put it on and over winter fit and work the rest of the pannels, as well as throw down a custom paint job.
Right now I am trying to force my self to work on the subaru!!

done modding the bike for the summer.
You wouldnt believe how much of a pain in the butt shooting single stage paint through a hvlp gun...
well about two pints of paint and 5 paint jobs i finaly got a keeper!!
quick run down of the mods:
Red head lights (oddly enough H4 same as the subaru)
red reverse coan led marker lights (again oddly enough, same as subie)
removed the usless warning stickers, some of the badging, and the rear foot pegs.
New clear smoaked tailight with intagrated turn signal
Red 3LED front turn signals
and the PITA race rear faring (worth every second of hitting my head agenst the wall!)

Now that that whole thing is out of my system for a bit.
Its on to the subaru.
I did all the rough work to the body bits; Fiberglassed in the hooks for the mesh on the front end, identified all the fiberglass bubbles in the front end and ground them down, got all the pannels trimmed up and fitted, and I also picked up the fenders today.
Tomorrow I will get some body filler on the spots that need it and get them sanded down and ready for paint!!
I have a goal.
There is an auto-cross event at a local college 20 days away. I want to participate but I dont want the car to look this shabby, especialy since its on the rich side of town.
So the goal is to have all the extirror done by then.
1-2-3-go!

true to my word I jumped into the subaru stuff head first.
For all of you that love the wing-less look I present to you.. the ghetto look..
its the newest rage!! And , yes, that’s how I drove it to work this morning; because it was raining too hard to ride the bike.

I was sick of the garage being red from the rear faring so I decided to turn it grey!

God I love new stuff!!
all I had to do with the fenders is wipe them down with Prep-all and prime them. No dents, no creases, no rust.... Its a beautiful thing!!

for any one that is planning on painting a pair of fenders I highly recommend doing it this way!
stack two saw horses on top of each other
string some bailing wire between the bolt holes on the top rail
straddle the saw horses with the fenders, one on either side
and put something to hold the dog legs apart.
This put them at the perfect height and angle!

I did a quick sanding on the air foil and took the two halves apart.
I decided to prime it before doing some serious body work to it because its just way easier to see imperfections in grey than black.
It doesn’t look like I have much work to do before shooting color but it is fiberglass so you have the typically bubbles and seams to deal with, as well as some odd warps.
It will be top shelf by the time I’m done (not sure if there is a pun in there some where or not, considering the height of the air foil)

Tomorrow, sanding down the fenders and hopefully throwing some paint!!

I mixed up wayyy too much clear.
I shot about 1/3rd of it and was pleased with the results. I didn’t want it to go to waste so I started misting it on letting it tack between.
It ended up running. So then I decided to just pile it on so that way I can try to wet sand out the runs.
so here are the results...
I sure hope I don’t have to shoot color than clear again!
I don’t mind re-shooting the clear.. that’s no biggie.
But that color is damn expensive!

The other fender looks much better but it still ran as well.
ah well, it gives me an opportunity to take my time with the other bits. (Have to wait a couple of days before sanding.

The air foil is primed, all the bad spots have been identified and are dressed with glazing putty, and just needs to be primed again before paint.
The bumpers and side skirts are fiberglassed (re-enforcing thin parts) and the defects are bondoed and waiting for sanding.

Sherwin whilliams sucks!!!!
I picked up a quart of paint, reducer, gallon of over coat, and the hardener for that. The sherwin 4th demention stuff. Had the paint mixed for 2000 subaru 94H sodona red.
I get it home shoot the fenders, above posted.. and when I get them out to the car they are the wrong color!!!
There is clearly not enough copper in it.
I take the paint down to my friends auto shop and he said maby some one screwed up mixing it. So he mixes it up and its the same issue.
He suggested going across town to the sherwin store they carry a fancy series paint that matches better. He also said, they cant refund my $150 so they will just hook me up next time I buy paint... Im cool with that.
I go to the sw store and they mix me up a quart of varriation 2 sodona red.
Of corse I have to buy there reducer too. So $160 later I have a new batch of paint to try. I shoot the airfoil and feel happy about it because it looks way more copper than the last color.
I let it dry over night and when I took it out to the car its the wrong freekin color again!!!!
this pisses me right off. I know for sure I bough a pint of PPG 94H and all the fixins for under $90 two years ago, it wasent perfect but it was closer than this ****.
I am going to go back and riot.

new approach,
I am going to go back and demand a refund. when that doesn’t work I am going to get a gallon of the cheep series SW 94h paint. Prep the entire car, fix all the dents, and remove those stupid bump guards, and just paint the whole freekin car.
It’s a great way to get the whole car to match and will guarantee I will never run into this crap again!!

I went back to the paint store like 4-5 times trying to get the paint right.
They didnt come all that close, I just got sick of going back.
Its not right, but its not totaly wrong eather, so its good enough.
I have every thing painted except for the spoiler. I think I am just going to go back to my buddys shop and try to mix my own.
It all turned out decent, a fiew runs but nothing I cant wetsand out.

I finished it up last night and washed her down this morning. She looks better than I ever thought she would.
some of the panels don’t quite line up and its kind of jankey right now because allot of the bolts and fasteners broke pulling it all apart. Tomorrow I’m going to pick up all the fasteners, a drill and tap, and a new muffler and she’s ready to role.
So happy Fathers day to all.
Here is how she looks 6/17/07
Far cry from last winter!!
NOW ON TO THE INTIRROR!!

if you notice the grills are two diffrent types of mesh.
the main center bumper grill vs the vents under the turn signals and the upper grill around the impreza logo.
I ran out of the right mesh so I used the one I got with the bumper for the center.
I am going to get more mesh (home depot $3 a yard), cut it, fit it, powder coat it.
I drove it around today and felt like a tool because it was wayy loud and raspy without a muffler.
I rigged some thing togher that sounds great but looks kinda fubar'ed but you gotta leave improvement some where right?!
