If you are from the bay area I've seen you on HW 80. If I was you I would get a Wingless trunk instead of that half STI wing cuz it really doesn't look good.
also I think the stock wheels are much better than those.
just my 2 cents.

Well guys,
thanks for the feedback. As for the ride I did mean ride better not handle. They soften up what is otherwise a harsh ride and when I go to the track I put the stocks w/ potenza's (til they are used up) back on. Also as for the caps they are love it or leave it but for 2 weekends worth of work it still is a nice fix. I would also have liked a 2 level low wing but my fiberglass skills are just not that good. Since I am close to 40 and have to drive this almost 2k miles a month I figured the lower the profile the better thus no wing.

I sent an email to the moderators asking them to forward it to the original poster but I haven't heard back in a week, so I'm trying a post here.
I'm interested in finding out more about how you made the caps for the wing, and also what you did in the way of sound insulation.
I'm two weeks into my new STi and I love it love it love it -- but unfortunately I have already learned that the wing sometimes attracts the wrong kind of attention. I figure a wingectomy will drop the "look over here, officer!" component by a factor of at least 10! So please give me a yell and help me out.
Thanks,
-wdb

caps for the wing? as in removing the top of the wing and leaving the bottom or just taking the wing off completely? If you really wanna ditch the wing, i'm sure there's somebody in your area that'll pay some money and their wingless trunk and straight swap with yours, then you won't have to worry about leaks and whatnot. Just make sure you swap locks.

Why a semi-wing

The half-wing has the advantage of not needing to replace the trunk lid. It covers all the holes just as it is. I agree that it looks not quite right, however in my opinion it doesn't look any better or worse than a WRX wing would look.
What I'd REALLLY like to do is reshape the lower piece so that the center curves continued smoothly out to the edges, but that would require obtaining another bottom wing half to hack up. I might do that; any ideas on where to score such an item?
Thanks for the opinions and comments, they're greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
